Hijos
de Salvador Rodríguez has been producing cheese for the last
50 years. In the beginning Salvador Rodríguez elaborated
the cheese all by himself in his small handicraft business in Santa
Cristina de la Polvorosa. He even picked up the milk from the local
shepards with a donkey and the traditional earthern recipients.
With very limited means he carried on with his activities until
his sons joined him and the business started to expand. To meet
the increasing demand they first bought a small van, because they
not only had to pick up more milk but also distribute the cheese.
Taking into account the limited technological advances of those
years (1955) this is how the business started to grow very slowly.
The
first important investment was the acquisition of land in 1957 where
the Rodríguez family built a small plant. Various additional
investments allowed to increase the production and improve the quality
and hygiene of the products.
In
1982 the small family business became an Ltd.. And since then thanks
to the intense commercial activity and the participation in national
and international fairs the products are now sold all over Spain
and various European, Amercian and Asian countries.
In
three generations Hijos de Salvador Rodríguez has passed
from the artisan elaboration to a complex production process employing
the latest equipment and strictest hygienic and quality control
systems, but always making a special point of maintaining the quality
of their centennial artisan tradition.
